This is our second ever Parent Communication email! Below you will find all the important and timely information regarding FCA (now with subheadings for easy referencing!). Enjoy!
Frontier Day Recap
Thank you to all who joined us at our second Frontier Day at the Rice Museum last Friday. We had over 150 students (and lots of family members) attend between the two dates! That is a great turnout. Our staff loves meeting you in person and hopefully, you have a chance to meet other students and families. If you were not able to make it we have two more lined up.
Frontier Day @ Beverly Beach
Our next Frontier Day will be at Beverly Beach (Newport, Oregon). Will will be digging for fossils with Avocational Paleontologist, Guy DiTorrice. We will meet at 9 am and end around 12 pm. Below are a few important pieces of information about the Frontier Day, written in bullet point for readability:
Dress warm and appropriately for the weather.
Parking is limited, so carpooling is encouraged. We will be parking in the Day Use area for Beverly Beach. There are 110 potential parking spots and they are first come first serve. Many spots might be filled with overnight campers and people who arrive before us. There is also some off the highway parking on the north and south entrances.
We have access to 10 picnic tables, which isn’t very much considering how many families have expressed interest in this Frontier Day. We encourage everyone to bring their own chair for comfortable seating.
Food will not be provided, so families should bring their own snacks and sack lunches
Bags, gloves, and safety instructions have arrived from SOLVE of Oregon for our beach cleanup; once the outing is ending we will pick up all our trash (and any other trash we find) and load it into the bed of Guy’s truck.
Frontier Day @ Bend
Join us for our 3rd Frontier Day of the year on November 16th at the High Desert Museum in Bend, Oregon. There will be a variety of indoor and outdoor exhibits to explore and plenty of time to socialize with all your friends from class. The price of admission will be covered by FCA, but lunch will not be provided. The event begins at 10 am and ends at 1 pm. As always, parents are required to stay on site.
Hopefully, you were able to join us for our first parent luncheon hosted by the talented Mr. B; if you were unable to attend you can access the recording here. We will host similar events throughout the year to support families with the tech side of the school. Don’t forget you can always submit a help ticket anytime for more immediate help.
