Fully Equipped for Learning — Free for Families
There’s no need to worry about tech or materials—we’ve got it all covered. Every student receives a Chromebook for schoolwork and families can request a wireless hotspot if home internet is unavailable. We also offer an internet stipend to help with monthly costs. Younger students receive printed workbooks and learning materials right at home, and high school art and science courses include physical materials that are shipped to you. No fees, no stress—just everything your child needs to thrive in our online school.
Students use modern digital tools like Canvas LMS for participating in course work, Zoom for Education to engage in live classes, and Google Workspace for Education to access a full suite of tools. Parents can view student progress using a Canvas Observer account and receive weekly reports of student online activity via Securly’s filtering service.
Rethinking Online Learning
Most online school utilizes a formulaic canned curriculum that relies too heavily on multiple choice and other knowledge-based assignments; because their curriculum is based on little more than information recall it quickly becomes boring. At FCA we try to build curriculum that requires students to use their higher order thinking skills. Our assessments are varied and help students develop a variety of skills that will serve them well beyond school!
The Curriculum
Review Standards
We begin by poring over state standards.

Design Accordingly
Next, we design projects, assignments, and experiences that will not only teach our students those standards but equip them with 21st Century Skills that will help them beyond high school.

Teach and Adjust
Finally, we teach the curriculum to our students. Because we built the curriculum, we can easily adjust it both for students who are struggling and for students who need more of a challenge.

Ready for What’s Next
With a strong foundation in academics and real-world skills, our students leave ready to take on whatever comes next, prepared to lead, adapt, and succeed.

Beyond the Classroom: Clubs & Languages
-
All students can enroll in a foreign language class to access their Rosetta Stone subscription, giving them access to over 20 world languages. We offer both for-credit and non-credit options. Our for-credit language courses—such as Spanish, French, and German—are recognized by universities and meet the two-year foreign language requirement that many colleges expect for admission. Students can also explore additional languages just for fun, with non-credit courses that allow for personal growth and global awareness, all at no cost to your family.
-
We offer a wide variety of student clubs designed to build community, creativity, and leadership—both in and beyond the virtual classroom. Club offerings vary each year based on student interest, and there’s something for everyone! Past clubs have included Art Leadership, Cooking Club, Dungeons & Dragons, GSA, Crochet Club, Debate Club, Science Olympiad, Gaming Club, and many more. Students have also participated in honor societies like National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society, as well as language and arts-focused groups such as Spanish Club, French Club, and the Creative Artists Network. Whether your child is passionate about games, art, science, or leadership, they’ll find a place to connect and grow.

This year, our 6th grade students had the exciting opportunity to participate in a school-sponsored Outdoor School experience. Held in a natural park setting, this multi-day session brought learning beyond the screen and into the outdoors. Sixth grade teachers joined students on-site to lead hands-on lessons tied directly to the environment around them—turning forests, trails, and open skies into living classrooms. It was a unique chance for students to connect with nature, their teachers, and each other while deepening their understanding of science, ecology, and more.
